By 1940 it had become obvious that the avant -garde modernism advocated by Itagaki Takao had come to an end. In order to make ends meet Horino contributed there two volumes to the Ars Shashin Bunko, a series of some 53 pocket sized photographic manuals issued between 1939 and 1941, catering to the mass market. The photographic content is a far cry from the vibrancy of the previous decade and one can see that Horino was trying to establish new political credentials. Very rare. No copy OCLC.
